V. LESSON POLICIES & EXPECTATIONS (also available to read on the student portal)
1. TUITION & PAYMENT. Monthly tuition is due the first of the month, using our “Pay While You Play” payment plan.
There is a discount for payment made in full prior the semester. Paying by academic year follows the semester
discount and is due by September 1st. Tuition varies, based on instructor and learning format. All tuitions do not
cover the cost of instrument, music, and materials. For private lessons, the monthly tuition will be based on the
number of weeks in that particular month; either four or five. For students beginning mid-month, the tuition will
be pro-rated and then the monthly tuition will start on the 1st of the following month. Some group classes may
not be available to begin mid-session and others classes may have additional requirements prior to joining the
class. Late payments will result in a $30 late fee; accounts over 30 days late will result in interest charges of 1%
per month. SSMA reserves the right to suspend lessons/classes for non-payment of tuition.
2. ATTENDANCE. Because scheduling a lesson has an impact on other students, it’s important to attend all lessons or
classes at the assigned times. Students who are late for a lesson cannot be guaranteed their full lesson time. If
you are going to be absent, please let our office know in advance. Our instructors are not obligated to provide
make-up lessons or classes, unless an instructor is unable to attend the assigned time. If an instructor is unable
to schedule a make-up lesson, a credit will be issued by the school to the student’s account. Students with
ongoing absences are still obligated to pay; no refunds or credits will be issued for missed lessons or classes.
For weather emergencies, make-up sessions will be scheduled. Should an extreme circumstance arise, please
contact the SSMA administrative team.
3. INSUFFICIENT CLASS ENROLLMENT. If any group class has insufficient enrollment, Steeple Street Music Academy
reserves the right to cancel that class. If a class is canceled, full refund will be issued.
4. PARENTS. Parents can enter at any time during the music lessons and/or watch through the glass door of the
studio space. We encourage parent involvement in the lesson so as to support student progress.
5. WITHDRAWAL. To withdraw, either temporarily (suspend) or permanently (cancel) from the lessons, please contact
us at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than the 15th of the month. If you withdraw after the 15th of the
month, you will be responsible for the next month’s fees in full. Informing your teacher of your withdrawal is
an appreciated courtesy, but that alone does not stop your financial obligation to the school. Withdrawals must
be made in writing, by email. Within 24 hours of receiving your withdrawal email, you should receive an email
confirmation. If you do not receive a confirmation email, resend your email. After receiving your withdrawal
notice, your account will be made inactive and any financial obligations still outstanding will be made with
auto-pay; therefore, by signing this agreement, you authorize SSMA to charge your credit/debit card on file to
resolve your outstanding balance. Withdrawal must be submitted in writing, by email to Steeple Street Music
Academy and NOT to the teacher.
6. CHANGES & UPDATES. We reserve the right to update or modify these policies at any time and without prior
notice unless a material change is made; in which case we will notify you through the email you have on file.
Your use of our services following any such change constitutes your agreement to follow and be bound by the
policies as changed.
VI. LESSON LIABILITIES & RELEASES (also available to read on the student portal)

the video or audio recording or taking of photographs for these purposes. Prior approval from the
student/parent will be asked if personal information is to be attached to the photos or recordings.
